This document briefly describes the general terms regarding agreements for the publication of a work as book between cefischer verlag and the creator of the work (in the following referred to as author). These terms should be treated as guiding principles, only.
We offer authors the publication of their works with our publishing programme without any financial contribution (contribution free publication) based on a customized contract of publication. In its sphere, the author assigns the right of publishing his work as a book exclusively to us for at least 5 years. Ancillary rights are usually excluded. Unless terminated 3 months before the end of each contractual year, the agreement will prolong for another year.
Even though terminated, we usually retain the right of publishing the work as a book (if possible), however, only with regards to those editions of the work that originated during the life of the former agreement in order to keep the original version of the title in print.
We pay a minimum royalty to the author of at least 10% of the retail price (list price) of each sold copy of the book and 60% of the proceeds as they may result through the exploitation of ancillary rights (if included in the agreement). If the author also acts as a co-operative partner, royalties are subject to the terms and conditions as stated in the additional agreement of co-operation as well.
The author gets 5 copies of the titile for free. Further copies can be acquired at a discount rate of 22% off list price (excluding VAT) for personal use and 12% off for retail. Royalties are offset with the purchase.
Again, note, that agreements as those for publishing books are subject to customized tailoring. Please contact us for further information.
